How Does Therapy With Me Work?

I describe myself as a psychotherapist who uses counselling to help people find healing and change. Gradually building trust and connection forms the basis for effective therapy. I will explore with you how we can best work together to meet your needs.

Therapy usually happens weekly, in sessions lasing fifty minutes to an hour. We speak together, either in a quiet room, over the telephone or by video call. Written communication is also an option. Your privacy and confidentiality are given utmost importance.

My training is integrative, which means I combine different styles in ways that make sense and are useful. Because everyone is unique, I don’t say that a particular technique is always part of how I practice. But here are some of the approaches which influence how I like to work:

  • Relational Psychotherapy
  • Trauma awareness
  • Interpersonal Neurobiology
  • Mindfulness
  • Compassion Focussed Therapy
  • Cyclical Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Attachment Theory
  • Inner Community / Internal Family Systems
  • Narrative Therapy

Practice in the Aristotelian sense … relations between and among human beings.
