• I record and store your personal information (name, email, phone, address, GP and next of kin contact) for the purpose of my service providing counselling & psychotherapy
• I abide by UK GDPR legislation and I am registered with the ICO (#ZB302376)
• You can ask to see or correct any data I have which refers to you (see Your Rights here: https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/)
• My brief, factual session records are kept for 7 years (as law requires) on local encrypted media

CONFIDENTIALITY

I treat what is shared during my work with you as strictly confidential. Some exceptions apply, such as

• Child protection (e.g. Children’s Act 1989)
• Serious crime (e.g. manslaughter, Terrorism Act 2000)
• Court Order by a judge
• A serious emergency during a counselling session

I also discuss my work in Clinical Supervision and occasionally in anonymised form in private training, where I will never share anything to identity you as an individual.

THIRD PARTY SERVICES

I use services like email, telephones, video conferencing and banking during my work with you. Providers have their own privacy implementation not under my control but I will take reasonable steps to privatise and/or anonymise your data.

Bank statements and invoices do show your details but I only use them in a financial context when strictly necessary (e.g. HMRC, accountant).

For invoicing, I use secure third party services, with your name and email address.

For purposes of maintaining a therapeutic executor agreement, I use secure cloud storage, with your name and contact details.

OUT OF SESSION CONTACT

• I keep contact outside of therapy sessions to non-therapeutic matters, like arranging to meet.
• If we happen to meet elsewhere in person, I will wait to see if you acknowledge me, then keep any interaction with you polite but brief.
• I do use social media but will not interact with you there, nor will I search for you online.
